Last night I went to Jewel to buy some bratwursts. (It's summer grill time!) I asked the butcher for six brats. When I got home I opened the package. There were five brats inside but he charged me for six. Not only was I mad but also was short of brats. My son needed to make another trip. When I went back to Jewel they refunded me the full amount. Now I wonder how much does it cost companies (and ultimately us as customers) for human error.

A day in my math life

I want to replace the ugly lemon-yellow linoleum in my laundry room. When I went to Lowes I found some awesome ceramic tile that were 12" x 12". My room is 14' 4" x 7'6". I need to purchase an additional 10% for breakage. How many tiles do I need?
The tiles were done this weekend. It looks great! I bought a gross of tiles, which is 12 boxes of 12 tiles. I used 125 tiles and broke a few. Thanks for the comments! There will be more math problems since there are more rooms to renovate!
