math problem

please post your comment / solution and the explanation. Suzanne was having a party at her house. The group was discussing birthdays and talking about planning parties. After listening for a while Suzanne said, "there is something interesting about my birthday. Two days ago I was 13, but next year I'll be 16." If Suzanne ws telling the truth, what kind of party was she having?

    She was having a New Year's party because her birthday must be one day before the start of the year-December 31st.
